Throughout this desperation, I still somehow managed to spend every morning, without fail, reading my affirmations, writing in my journal, visualizing the life I really wanted and reading books on the Law of Attraction. I devoured these practices, and they (and my daughters and Taekwondo) kept me sane and on track.
When I was at my lowest, waking up in the middle of the night fretting and thinking of drowning myself, the other thing that kept me going was my belief in the Law of Attraction. I just kept coming back to that. I had invested 20 years in this belief system, although I had not put it into practice on a constant basis, by any means. Still, because of Gary, I was introduced to these principles and understood them and appreciated what they could do for me.
I knew that, for example, when I was worrying, I was attracting more of what I didn’t want, so I focused every morning on what I did want. At times I would feel sick to my stomach because I could not help but think of my financial situation, and still, without fail, I tried to correct the way I felt by thinking of what I did want.
I developed a routine: Every morning I would go out on my veranda, read my affirmations, and write in my journal. I made a point to write down on paper every day what I was grateful for. I also read a statement aloud to myself that I had written, describing in detail how I envisioned my perfect life. I would then read other people’s thoughts on the Law of Attraction. Without fail, this was my routine, and it helped! Things started to improve!
People I had hoped to represent began phoning me, asking me for advice and for my services. It was as if the Universe sent out an “SOS!”
Before I knew it, I was so busy. I made four interstate flights in six weeks. I was invited to many free events and shows, and my social life was actually great! I didn’t have to pay for the showcases I put together, and I was living the high life without costing me a cent! This helped me gain even more momentum in keeping my Law of Attraction faith alive!
It was also around this time that the movie “The Secret” began making huge waves in the media. Though I had followed the tenets of this belief system for 20 years, it now was making a resurgence of sorts – just under a new name. It was also a time when many people were cashing in on these beliefs, and most had no authority to do so. Again, I already knew the ideas behind “The Secret” in my heart and had been actively applying them for years; but I also knew that it often takes much more than positive thinking alone to achieve the finest out of life – “The Secret” went far deeper than that.
Here’s the “secret” to “The Secret” -- it can’t be explained any easier than this, yet it is one of the hardest concepts to grasp and believe. I may be called blasphemous and insult many religions by saying this, but I speak from my heart and from my own personal proof:
Quite simply, God exists as the Creator of all things. We are souls that are like sparks from the giant flame of God. We are in fact God; we have the same creative energy as God. The “secret” is to know this and believe it and expect it and create it. When we lower our vibrational levels, depression and other lower, darker forms of energy find a way through much, much more easily than they can when we are full of joy. When we become depressed and traumatised by negative thoughts and feelings, we block this source of God, and we go on to create and manifest negative things in our world.
With these beliefs inside me, on my darkest days, I knew that I had to use all my power to keep my thoughts and feelings as positive and focused as I could. It was hard, and it takes determination, strength and unbelievable faith.
I also knew that I had to accept what was coming my way and that I had to be guided by my faith alone that all would turn out well. I knew events would happen, and I had to trust and go with the flow.
Finally, one day during this time, a real “break” came for me – in the form of one of Australia’s most famous magicians!
Matt Hollywood is an exceptional businessman. He is probably the savviest salesman I know. He is also one of Australia’s leading comedy magicians; a true professional and a polished showman.
Matt rang me up on one of my dark, worrisome days to discuss the possibilities of my promoting him. He wanted me to fly out to the Gold Coast to talk about it, so he sent me a ticket, and the next morning I was on my way.
Once there, Matt and I developed a marketing strategy that ended up benefiting us both. Because of his business, I now had a regular income per week! Each day we would speak with each other, set our goals and put them into action. Of course I still was able to keep Coyote, my speakers’ bureau, which was a very good thing, because with Matt’s business, I was able to increase my sales for my other clients.
I was now working as Matt’s agent 80 percent of the time. I thanked the Universe for giving me my much-needed and long-awaited-for break in a way that I would have never expected!
When I got paid for my work marketing Matt, The Law of Attraction had kicked in! Everything I had put my faith in and trusted and believed now came back to me with its rewards!
I finally knew I had made it! I was confident beyond words, even though both Eamonn and my dad were a bit suspicious of Matt and were feeling overprotective of me. They just couldn’t bear to have me hurt again, but even though they were quite negative about this, I knew in my heart I was safe, and I let Go and Let God!
I worked for Matt for a few months, but was not satisfied with this set up. I was earning money at last and pulled in thousands of dollars for Matt, however I wanted to get out of working from home. I decided to become a sales rep and get out on the road. When I applied for a sales position advertied by a recruitment agency, the Managing Director of this agency rang me up. He said, I wasn't suitable for that role but wanted me to come in and be interviewed for a role as a recruitment consultant. I did that and was offererd a position on the spot.
After a year I left that role as I wanted to work in the CBD and was took a role at Mosaic Recruitment and after one month was promoted to the Executive Team. I started to make bonus in my third month. Recruitment became a part of my new life and at the same time I as able to keep the bureau running as there was a good synergy between the two roles. I have never looked back into falling into recruitment and it became my lifeline. The Law of Attraction works in very mysterious ways.
